Gino Marioni [born in Udine (Italy), June 11, 1969], MD, is Associate Professor at the Otolaryngology Section of the Department of Neurosciences DNS, at the University of Padova (Italy).; He complies with the Italian requirements (Italian National Scientific Qualification 2012) for the role of Full Professor in the Academic Area of Otolaryngology/Audiology. He is a member of the Scientific Commission for the Medical Area (2012-2016) at the University of Padova, a member of the Scientific Committee of the University’s Department of Neurosciences, and a member of the Commission for assessing scientific projects (in Medicine and Surgery) funded by the University. In 2012 he was one of the assessors of the research generated by the universities and research centers supervised by the Italian Ministry for the University for the 7-year period 2004-2010 (VQR 2004-2010).; Prof. Marioni graduated in Medicine (1995) and specialized in Otolaryngology (1999) at the University of Udine (Italy). He developed his expertise in head and neck surgery under the mentorship of Prof. A. Staffieri, and in otological surgery under the mentorship of Prof. S. Iurato. He has attended international surgical fellowship programs at the Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery of the Academic Hospital VU Amsterdam under Prof. G. Snow and HF. Mahieu (head and neck surgery), and at the Hals-, Nasen- Ohrenkranke der J Maximilian Universität, Würzburg under Prof. J. Helms (otological/neuro-otological surgery).; His main research fields are surgical oncology of the head and neck (HN) (particularly primary/salvage partial and reconstructive laryngeal surgery in advanced carcinoma, modern molecular diagnostic/prognostic tools in HN surgical oncology, targeted therapy for HN carcinoma, rational treatment of HN carcinoma in the elderly), oto-neuro-vestibology (advanced diagnosis, surgical and rehabilitation treatments), infectious HN diseases. Since 1999, Prof. Marioni has published more than 195 papers in ENT and non-ENT medical journals of international standing. He has contributed to several international and national conferences and courses. He serves on the Editorial Boards of Acta Otolaryngologica (Stockholm), the American Journal of Otolaryngology, ORL J Oto-Rhino-Laryngol (Basel, CH), International Journal of Biological Markers (Subject Area Editor: Head and neck), Brazilian Journal of Otorhinolaryngology, the World Journal of Otorhinolaryngology, and the Open Otorhinolaryngology Journal. He serves as international reviewer for more than 30 journals.; Prof. Marioni has been teaching at the School of Medicine, School of Dentistry, School of Physiatrics, Schools of Specialization in Otolaryngology, Geriatrics, Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology, Audiology and Phoniatrics, Maxillofacial Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, PhD School of Oncology and Surgical Oncology, University of Padova.; He has performed more than 2,100 oto-rhino-laryngological surgical procedures as first surgeon or assistant.
